In 2004, West Virginian voters, Democrats, Republicans and Independents alike, effectively brought “Change” to the Office of Secretary of State when they elected Betty Ireland to the office. That call for action was a statement of confidence in our democracy whereby opposing political parties do find common grounds and interests for the good of our people.  I am running for the Office of Secretary of State;

a)	To “Keep That Change Alive” and continue the legacy of successes led by Secretary Betty Ireland and her predecessor Governor Joe Manchin;
b)	To prevent West Virginia from status quo politics of the past which my opponent will embrace;
c)	To give back to West Virginia for the many opportunities it has afforded for me more than thirty years.

My fundamental goal is to fight against voters’ apathy and to engage all our citizens across West Virginia to participate in the election process and VOTE. Read More…….

The 2008 general election will be the most remarkable political event in recent times. Voters in West Virginia and across the nation will have to make the tough choices of electing qualified candidates to serve the people. There are many good, qualified, and deserving candidates out there. I am asking for your vote and support because I have the vision to make West Virginia a model in administration and electoral process and also because I have the executive experience needed to run the Office of Secretary of State.

My efforts in coalition building among grassroots organizations are a critical component to coalesce the much-needed broad based support to win this election. By electing me as Secretary of State, West Virginia will be making history again because voters will have made the “Smart Choice” of picking the right candidate for the office.

We need a leader in the office of Secretary of State with a new vision, a vision to bring about new ideas for the 21st Century. Following are some of the ideas I plan to introduce and implement:

1.	Re-energize the electorate and “Restore Voter Confidence” to serve the people;
2.	Enforce and continue the legacy of successful reforms to eliminate “Election & Voter Fraud” in the system;
3.	Explore “Online Voting Technology” to meet the needs of 21st Century;
4.	Upgrade the IT system to make information more readily available online;
5.	Continue with the digitalization of documents pertaining to the office of Secretary of State;
6.	Empower West Virginia for growth & prosperity by making it easier for business to “Register Online.”

Elections in West Virginia can be a good public relations tool for the state. In order to correct or counter the negative publicity and stereotypes that continue to plague our state, West Virginia must educate its citizenry to make SMART CHOICES. Therefore, I am asking West Virginians to join me and carry this “Banner of Hope” with the vision, strength and conviction to “Keep That Change Alive.”
